DUBAI: This week, a number of female celebrities’ personal images appeared online in a hacking incident similar of the 2014 celebrity photo dumps that made headlines.
The pictures include celebrities like Amanda Seyfried and Emma Watson and span from innocent snapshots to overtly suggestive pictures.
Late on Tuesday night, they started making the rounds on Reddit and 4chan.
A spokesman for Watson told AFP that some of the images from the clothing fitting Emma had with a stylist a few years ago were authentic. Watson and Seyfried filed a lawsuit on Wednesday. These aren’t pictures of people in their underwear. Attorneys have received instructions, therefore we won’t be speaking more.
The pictures of Watson include pictures of her hanging out with pals and pictures of her in different clothes in front of a mirror. Nonetheless, the hackers claim that Watson is represented in the picture dump by pictures of a naked lady posing in a bathtub, even if the woman’s face is hidden.
The alleged images of Jillian Murray and Amanda Seyfried that have gone viral online seem to show both actresses in naked and are more graphic.
Online commentators have dubbed the pictures “The Fappening 2.0,” alluding to the 2014 iCloud photo hacking incident in which actress Jennifer Lawrence’s personal photographs were stolen.
Watson criticized Jennifer Lawrence and the other celebrities whose nude images had been uploaded without their consent on Twitter in 2014, citing their “lack of empathy.”
